Job summary

Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) in Romulus, MI seeks a skilled mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and heavy equipment on site.

You will perform repairs on engines, brakes, suspensions, transmissions, electrical systems, and hydraulics, follow safety rules, and test drive vehicles.

The role requires independent work, strong record-keeping, and willingness to work rotating shifts in a dusty outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
• Diesel mechanic experience; hydraulic systems experience preferred.
• Welding and torching experience preferred.
• Mechanic license or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work independently, self-motivated and self-directed.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written communication.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Pre-employment background check, physical fitness, and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Drive trucks and trailers to test performance.
• Perform cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeeping.
• Other duties as assigned.
