Zolman’s Best One Tire & Service is seeking an experienced Mechanic in Portage, MI. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of vehicles, prioritizing safety and customer service. The role requires a solid background in automotive repair with focus on reliability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years experience as a mechanic in the tire and service industry.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment along with problem solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic scan tools and other equipment.
• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify problems and recommend repairs.
• Replace suspension parts and perform alignments when needed.
• Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used.
• Explain repairs clearly to Service Advisors, management, and customers as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and follow safety standards.

Locally owned and operated, Zolman Tire, Inc. has serviced the automotive, light truck and commercial repair, tire, and wheel needs of customers throughout the Michiana area since 1978. Over the years we have expanded into nine retail locations in Mishawaka, IN, Granger, IN, South Bend, IN, Niles, MI, Portage, MI, and Kalamazoo, MI and five commercial fleet locations in Mishawaka, IN, South Bend, IN, Galesburg, MI, Benton Harbor, MI, and Jackson, MI.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanics for our location located in South Bend, Indiana, who values safety and teamwork. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with a focus on automotive repair. As a Mechanic you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, ensuring they are safe and reliable for our customers. Hour's requirements are 8am - 5pm M-F, with willingness to work overtime as needed.

Essential Functions

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic scan tools and other equipment.
• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs.
• Replace suspension parts and able to perform alignments.
• Maintain accurate records of all services performed and parts used.
• Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and maintenance to Service Advisors, management, and customers if needed in a clear and understandable manner.
• Ensure a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety standards and protocols.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

• Read ticket and perform work listed; write confirmation and recommendation
• Environment: Work in environment that is not climate controlled. Temperatures range from extremely hot to extremely cold, depending on the season.
