Job summary

Sulzer is seeking an electro‑mechanical technician to repair various equipment in Pasadena, TX. You will read job cards, determine work scope, test and troubleshoot equipment, disassemble assemblies, and reassemble with correct parts.

You’ll document results and work safely with required PPE to maintain quality output. The role requires a high school diploma and basic mechanical aptitude, plus the ability to follow procedures, observe safety rules, and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to understand, perform and retain various skill related training and safety procedures shown by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Read job cards to determine job status, work authorization/limitations, estimate and problems.
• Test electro‑mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various methods.
• Disassemble electro‑mechanical equipment noting parts identifications and condition.
• Clean equipment assemblies using parts washer/steamers or other methods as indicated.
• Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electro‑mechanical assemblies.
• Retest reassembled equipment for proper output and operation.
• Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and promptly.
• Operate specialized repair and testing equipment as needed.
• Observe all safety procedures and wear required protective gear.
• Lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds; keep work area neat.
• Assist other mechanics as directed and perform other duties as assigned.

About the role

Job Summary: Repair various kinds of electro‑mechanical equipment.

Location: Pasadena, Texas.

DUTIES

• Read job cards to determine; job status, work authorization/limitations, estimate, description of problems and/or expected serviceability.
• Test electro‑mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various methods (ac or de).
• Disassemble electro‑mechanical equipment noting parts identifications, configuration and condition.
• Clean electro‑mechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps, including but not limited to: parts washer/steamers, caustic tanks, glass beaders, etc.
• Measure for or note proper replacement parts.
• Correctly requisition needed items from storekeeper, as approved by supervisor.
• Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electro‑mechanical assemblies, including but not limited to: bearings, brushes, brush holders, motors leads gears seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes clutches, clutch rotors, tachs, fans, end shield,, etc.
• Retest reassembled electro‑mechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
• Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
• Operate specialized repair and testing equipment and other equipment as needed.
• Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and car protection).
• Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work duties.
• Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.
• Assisted other mechanics or other shop personnel in skilled or –non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor or shop manager.
• Perform other skilled or not‑skilled duties as directed by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to understand, perform and retain various skill related training and operational and safety procedures demonstrated by supervisor.
