Northern Tool + Equipment is seeking a Mechanic to service and repair customer-owned equipment brought to the store. You will source and order parts, diagnose engines, and maintain knowledge of our brands while delivering an exceptional, hassle-free customer experience.

The role emphasizes strong communication, safety, teamwork, and integrity, with a full-time schedule Monday through Friday and access to comprehensive benefits, including health plans and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience repairing small engines.
• Ability to clearly explain diagnosis and repair to customers.
• Observance of safety and security procedures.
• Teamwork and positive collaboration in a service environment.
• Commitment to integrity and company values.
• Strong organizational skills; proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of small engine theory: lubrication, cooling, ignition, fuel.
• Certifications from major brands (Honda, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton); master certification a plus.
• Experience with electrical systems, pumps/filters, hydraulics and diagnostic equipment.

Your number one priority as a Mechanic will be to service and repair products that are brought to the store for repair. The Mechanic promotes strong customer relations, a positive work environment and is also responsible for sourcing and ordering parts. Key Responsibilities:

1. Source & order parts for customers.
2. Diagnose and repair small engines/equipment.
3. Maintain current knowledge of Northern Tool + Equipment's national and private label brands.
4. Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.

What you will bring to the table:

• 1+ years of experience repairing and maintaining small engines.
• The skills to clearly explain the diagnosis and repair of the machine to the customer.
• The ability to recognize and observe all safety and security procedures.
• The desire to treat others with respect and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
• The drive to work with integrity, always upholding company values, while operating a profitable service business.
• Strong organizational skills and fluency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of small engine theory (2 and 4 stroke): lubrication, cooling, ignition and fuel systems.
• Certifications in major manufacture brands like Honda, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, et c.
• Master certification is a plus!
• Extensive experience with electrical systems, plunger driven or axial pressure washer pumps and unloader systems, hydraulic theory, and associated diagnostic equipment and procedures.
