Job summary

Northern Tool + Equipment is seeking a skilled Mechanic to service and repair customer devices brought to the store. You will source parts, diagnose engines, and maintain knowledge of our brands while upholding our blue-collar work ethic and customer-first philosophy.

In this role, you will communicate repairs clearly to customers, adhere to safety procedures, and contribute to a positive team environment with a focus on delivering a hassle-free experience.

Qualifications

• 1+ years repairing and maintaining small engines.
• Ability to explain diagnosis and repair to customers.
• Observes safety and security procedures.
• Demonstrates respect and builds positive team spirit.
• Upholds integrity and company values while servicing customers.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of 2- and 4-stroke engine theory (lubrication, cooling, ignition, fuel).
• Certifications in major brands (Honda, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, etc.). Master certification a plus.
• Experience with electrical systems, pumps, unloader systems, hydraulic theory, and diagnostic equipment.

Your number one priority as a Mechanic will be to service and repair products that are brought to the store for repair. The Mechanic promotes strong customer relations, a positive work environment and is also responsible for sourcing and ordering parts.At Northern Tool + Equipment we get up every day to serve the tradespeople who keep our country running strong and the weekend warriors who want to work like them. Key Responsibilities:

1. Source & order parts for customers.
2. Diagnose and repair small engines/equipment.
3. Maintain current knowledge of Northern Tool + Equipment's national and private label brands.
4. Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.

What you will bring to the table:

• 1+ years of experience repairing and maintaining small engines.
• The skills to clearly explain the diagnosis and repair of the machine to the customer.
• The ability to recognize and observe all safety and security procedures.
• The desire to treat others with respect and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
• The drive to work with integrity, always upholding company values, while operating a profitable service business.
• Strong organizational skills and fluency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of small engine theory (2 and 4 stroke): lubrication, cooling, ignition and fuel systems.
• Certifications in major manufacture brands like Honda, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, et c.
• Master certification is a plus!
• Extensive experience with electrical systems, plunger driven or axial pressure washer pumps and unloader systems, hydraulic theory, and associated diagnostic equipment and procedures.
