Job summary

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking a skilled Mechanic to support our government customer in Kauai, Hawai'i. You will perform operation and maintenance of transportation vehicles, diagnose issues, and prepare repair orders.

Two years of gasoline and diesel engine repair experience is required; ASE electronic engine diagnosis certification is preferred. CDL with X endorsement is a plus. Must be a U.S. citizen with security clearance eligibility.

• A.S. degree or completion of a 2 Year Technical or Trade School or equivalent.
• ASE certified in electronic engine diagnosis.
• Demonstrated ability to perform may be substituted for formal training.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain transportation vehicles and equipment and prepare repair orders.
• Research and identify parts from catalogs; perform maintenance, repair, overhaul and replacement of parts.
• Operate diagnostic equipment; inspect systems, brakes, drive train, hydraulics, and electronics to support repairs.
• Provide guidance and training to newly assigned employees.
• Care for government equipment, tools, and materials; ensure proper maintenance and safeguarding.
• Follow safety, health, and work rules; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is looking for a Mechanic to provide support for our government customer in Kauai, Hawai'i.

Under general direction of a Supervisor or Lead-person, will perform a variety of work related to the operation and maintenance of Transportation vehicles and equipment; ensures timely and efficient accomplishment of assigned duties; and prepare and maintain reports and records related to work assignments.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The individual will perform a variety of duties related to the operation and maintenance of all Transportation vehicles and equipment, such as:
• Operate diagnostic and other test equipment related to vehicle maintenance and repair; prepare shop repair orders; research and identify parts from catalogs; perform maintenance, repair, overhaul and replacement of parts related to the operation of vehicles and equipment; and be able to operate all vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledgeable in operating principles of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment and associated electrical systems, and electronic controls, hydraulics, brake systems, and drive train components.
• Works with other semi-skilled and skilled craftspersons and coordinates with members of other activities to ensure quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties.
• Provides guidance, orientation and training to newly assigned employees.
• Responsible for care of Government equipment, tools, property and materials, and assure that they are properly maintained and safeguarded.
• Performs specific tasks in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions and observes safety, fire, health, and work rules.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Office conditions are varied and include physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds (with a 2-person assist). Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, or standing for extended periods of time, and crawling, kneeling or cramped work, requiring repeated stooping. The environment will include customer contact, in a confined work area, field assignments.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• A.S. Degree or completion of a 2 Year Technical or Trade School or equivalent.
• ASE certified in electronic engine diagnosis.
• Demonstrated ability to perform may be substituted for formal training.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) years specific work experience in gasoline and diesel engine repair.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in the operation and repair of cranes and heavy equipment.
• Possess or able to obtain a Class A CDL license with X endorsement.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Secret security clearance is required. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment, and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.

COMPENSATION DETAILS:

• $40.54 per hr
• The compensation range or hourly rate provided is a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable laws.
