Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a skilled Mechanic in Colorado to perform routine maintenance and repair work on a range of motor vehicle equipment. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to diagnose issues using standard tools and diagnostic equipment.

We value candidates with at least two years of experience and a high school diploma; ASE certification is preferred. The position is on-site with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth within GEO

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical courses preferred.
• Two years’ experience in motor vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Valid driver’s license required; ASE certification may be required.
• Knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance techniques and safety practices.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and repair testing instruments.
• Ability to read instructions and to diagnose defects with computers.

Responsibilities

• The Mechanic performs routine maintenance and repairs on motor vehicles and related equipment.
• Replaces worn parts, conducts preventive maintenance, and services gasoline, diesel, or alternative fuel engines.
• Overhauls motors, transmissions, carburetors, and related components.
• Checks electrical and cooling systems; performs oil changes and brake/ suspension work.
• Schedules tire service, wheel alignments, A/C diagnosis and repair, and inspections.
• Maintains records of work performed and parts used; uses diagnostic equipment.
• Performs safety and emissions inspections; installs after-market accessories as needed.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Summary

The Mechanic performs routine motor vehicle maintenance and repair work. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or broken parts; performing preventive maintenance activities; and servicing motor vehicle equipment and related gasoline, diesel, or alternative fuel engine-powered equipment. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• The Mechanic exchanges, rebuilds, and overhauls motors, transmissions, carburetors, and other motor vehicle components and systems.


• Checks and repairs electrical and cooling systems.


• The Mechanic performs oil and filter changes, transmission service, brake and suspension repair, schedules tire installation and repair, wheel alignments, air conditioning diagnosis and repair, state vehicle inspections, and other maintenance activities.


• Performs minor engine tune-ups and makes required adjustments on motor vehicle’s motors and engines.


• The Mechanic performs motor vehicle body repair work and touch up painting.


• Performs safety and emissions inspections.


• The Mechanic tests motors and engines for satisfactory performance.


• Installs after-market accessories and equipment.


• The Mechanic maintains records of work performed and parts used.


• Uses on-board or hand-held electronic diagnostic equipment and other specialized tools and equipment to isolate and adjust malfunctions.


• Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical courses in motor vehicle maintenance and repair are preferred.


• Two (2) years’ experience in motor vehicle maintenance and repair work.


• Requires a valid driver’s license.


• May require certification(s) from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence.


• May require a Safety Inspector license.


• Knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance and repair techniques and of safety practices and principles.


• Skill in the use of tools, machines, and testing instruments used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.


• Ability to follow instructions, and to locate and diagnose defective mechanical operations.


• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
