Job summary

ACV Auctions is seeking a qualified Automotive Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles, ensuring safe and reliable operation. You will work with a team to identify issues, perform test drives, and complete preventative maintenance, including oil changes and fluid replacements.

The role requires a High School Diploma and at least two years of mechanic experience, with proficiency in hand tools and shop equipment. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical components of vehicles with the team.
• Perform test drives and diagnostic tests to identify problems.

• Repair body damage and wash/paint vehicle exteriors as needed.
• Generate timelines and repair estimates; discuss options with clients.
• Inspect internal systems to ensure compliance with state regulations and vehicle safety.
• Maintain accurate service records for clients, vehicles, parts, and history.
• Operate shop equipment and perform routine maintenance as required.

Job Summary:

The Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and helping prevent problems with vehicle performance and ensure that vehicles operate in a safe, reliable manner.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Works with the manager and other mechanics to diagnose and repair the mechanical and electrical components of vehicles.

May perform test drivers, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify where problems exist and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced.

Completing preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing and replacing fluids, and replacing brakes.

Repairing damage to the body of the vehicle and washing and painting the vehicle’s exterior.

Supports generating timelines and estimates for repairs and discussing options with clients.

Inspects internal systems and controls to ensure the vehicle is operating properly and in compliance with state regulations.

Maintains accurate records relating to clients, their vehicles, parts, and service history.

Uses shop equipment as instructed, performing regular maintenance and repairs as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Two years of auto mechanic experience

Knowledge & Skills:

Proven ability to diagnose and repair vehicles and follow safety instructions and directions.

Proficiency with hand tools and other equipment.

Excellent active listening, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to interact with others effectively; work as a team; good interpersonal skills

Able to lift up to 50 pounds;

Ability to keep confidential any work documents seen or conversations heard during performance of job duties;

Ability to communicate diplomatically;

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
