STA Family of Companies in the United States seeks a journeyman Mechanic to service company buses, vans, and trucks under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor. You will perform a wide range of preventive maintenance and complex repairs, using drawings and technical materials.
You must be able to lift heavy parts, operate a variety of hand tools, and conduct road tests with CDL/Non-CDL vehicles. DOT and EPA rules apply; prior diesel engine experience is preferred.
With general direction from the Shop Supervisor, a Mechanic provides a wide range of technical services on company buses, vans, and automobiles. This is a journeyman position that requires significant technical training and/or experience. Also works under the direction of the Operations Manager.
Maintains tools and work places so that workplace conditions are safe, neat and orderly.
Must be thoroughly familiar with all safety provisions associated with vehicle maintenance.
Full understanding of OSHA standards and provisions.
Understands and conforms to State EPA regulations regarding disposal of toxic waste substances.
Performs other duties as required.
At least five (5) to seven (7) years hands-on experience working on diesel engines with large buses or vehicles with experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy equipment environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Class 7 Inspection license
At least four (4) years’ experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy equipment environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Class 7 Inspection license
At least two (2) years’ experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy equipment environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
