Job summary

W&B SERVICE COMPANY LLC in Donna, TX seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to sustain operation of machinery by performing preventive maintenance on engines, conveyors, and production lines, following manuals and engineering specs, and troubleshooting malfunctions.

You will locate problems, replace worn parts, monitor downtime, and keep a safe, clean work area while supporting team goals and OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical training; exposure to high-speed equipment.
• 2+ years of related experience in packing machines/production machines.
• OSHA Certification(s) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, conveyors and production machines following diagrams, manuals and specs.
• Locate sources of problems by observing equipment in operation and using testing instruments.
• Remove defective parts using hoists, cranes and hand tools; replace and realign components.
• Monitor downtime and inform production workers of maintenance procedures to minimize interruptions.
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Assist team and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or department manager.

Job description

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.

Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Performing other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or department manager

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday’ weekend work is also necessary on a need basis.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical training; exposure to high-speed equipment.

2+ years of related experience in packing machines/production machines.

Preferred Education and Experience

OSHA Certification(s).
