Job summary

Loomis is seeking a Fleet Operations and Maintenance role at our Detroit area operations. This position reports to the Branch Manager and focuses on the upkeep of fleet vehicles, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs.

Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, driving vehicles for testing and parts transfer, and maintaining inventory with orders as needed. This full-time, on-site role offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license (C or better) and ability to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles.
• Must meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations section 391 qualifications.
• Must meet DOT brake and annual inspection certifications (1 year experience or approved training).

Responsibilities

• Service and repair of all fleet vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance (lubrication, oil changes, belts, hoses, brakes, bearings, tires).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, engine and electrical issues on all vehicle sizes.
• Drive vehicles for testing, transfer, and parts delivery.
• Perform inventory and order parts as needed.

Job Overview: This position is responsible for the Fleet Operations and Maintenance and reports to the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Service and repair of all fleet vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance (lube, oil change, replace belts, hoses, inspect brakes, repack bearings, check tires, on all size vehicles. Must perform per month.
• Diagnose and effectively repair mechanical, engine and electrical irregularities/malfunctions on all size vehicles.
• Drive automatic and standard shift vehicles for testing, transfer, and pick-up/delivery of parts.
• Perform inventory and order parts, supplies, as needed.

Primary Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience (Preferably Dealership. Foreign/Domestic vehicle experience a plus)
• Possession of valid driver’s license (C or better) and ability to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles from 2,000 to 50,000 lbs. in size.
• Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
• Must meet DOT standards to achieve brake and annual inspection certifications. A minimum of 1 year experience or a certificate from an approved training program.

Individual Skills And Competencies

• Ability to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges (in English). .
• Ability to write work orders, purchase orders.
• Ability to communicate verbally (in English) using telephone for ordering parts and supplies.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a semi-enclosed structure and outdoors.
• Environment involves chemical handling, gasoline/diesel fumes and intermittent high noise exposure.
• Exposed to wet and dry conditions in extreme heat and/or cold.
• Full-time schedule consists of an average of 40 hours per week for a 5-day period.
