Job summary

Loomis US in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Fleet Technician to service and repair a range of fleet vehicles. This full-time role reports to the Branch Manager and offers hands-on work maintaining safety and reliability of the company's mobile assets.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in fleet maintenance, a valid driver's license, and the ability to operate both automatic and manual transmissions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license (Class C or better) and ability to drive both automatic and manual transmissions.
• Must meet FMCSR 391 qualifications and DOT brake/annual inspection certifications.
• Able to read technical service manuals and write work/purchase orders.
• English communication skills for ordering parts and coordinating with teams.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair of all fleet vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, engine and electrical issues on all sizes of vehicles.
• Drive test/transfer vehicles for parts pickup/delivery.
• Inventory and order parts and supplies as needed.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 4PM - 12AM

Job Overview: This position is responsible for the Fleet Operations and Maintenance and reports to the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Service and repair of all fleet vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance (lube, oil change, replace belts, hoses, inspect brakes, repack bearings, check tires, on all size vehicles. Must perform per month.
• Diagnose and effectively repair mechanical, engine and electrical irregularities/malfunctions on all size vehicles.
• Drive automatic and standard shift vehicles for testing, transfer, and pick-up/delivery of parts.
• Perform inventory and order parts, supplies, as needed.

Primary Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience (Preferably Dealership. Foreign/Domestic vehicle experience a plus)
• Possession of valid driver’s license (C or better) and ability to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles from 2,000 to 50,000 lbs. in size.
• Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
• Must meet DOT standards to achieve brake and annual inspection certifications. A minimum of 1 year experience or a certificate from an approved training program.

Individual Skills And Competencies

• Ability to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges (in English). .
• Ability to write work orders, purchase orders.
• Ability to communicate verbally (in English) using telephone for ordering parts and supplies.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a semi-enclosed structure and outdoors.
• Environment involves chemical handling, gasoline/diesel fumes and intermittent high noise exposure.
• Exposed to wet and dry conditions in extreme heat and/or cold.
• Full-time schedule consists of an average of 40 hours per week for a 5-day period.
