Job summary

LifeStar Response in Annapolis Junction, MD, is seeking a dedicated Fleet Mechanic to keep our ambulance fleet safe, reliable, and road-ready. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on gas and diesel emergency vehicles and related systems.

You will perform preventive maintenance and repairs, diagnose mechanical and electrical problems, service brakes, engines, transmissions, and drivetrains, and maintain meticulous service logs for compliance and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (trade school or technical training preferred).
• Prior experience as a fleet or automotive mechanic.
• Working knowledge of gas and diesel engines and vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on company ambulances and support vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and computer-controlled systems.
• Service brakes (including air brakes), engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, and drivetrains.
• Complete routine maintenance (oil changes, filters, fluids, belts, tires, hoses).
• Repair or replace components in cooling, exhaust/emissions, hydraulic, air, and electrical systems.
• Maintain accurate service logs and maintenance records.
• Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
• Support other maintenance tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Do

Physical & Work Environment

• Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
