Job summary

Peak Rentals is seeking a licensed, experienced diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair mechanical issues across the fleet, with on‑site responsibilities and the ability to travel to off‑site locations. You must have your own hand tools and a track record with heavy‑duty trucks and diesel systems.

Responsibilities include inspections, documenting repairs, and coordinating major repairs while maintaining safety and compliance. Strong safety mindset and communication with management are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Peak's insurance guidelines.
  • Prior dealership experience preferred.
  • Heavy duty truck mechanic experience.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel exhaust aftertreatment systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, diesel engine problems, as well as hydraulic, pump and vacuum equipment.
  • Experience working on tractor trailers.
  • Basic welding skills.
  • Ability to understand necessary safety procedures and precautions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer/laptop.
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry, preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of hand tools/power tools.
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations for repair.
  • Must be able to use battery and charging system test equipment.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random DOT alcohol and drug screenings, background check, road test, and driving record review.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain transportation fleet in a manner that ensures the safety and protection of employees, clients and general public including the environment.
  • Conduct periodic inspections.
  • Review daily pre‑ and post‑trip reports.
  • Correct identified deficiencies.
  • Schedule and oversee major repairs.
  • Complete required documentation.
  • Maintain excellent communication; open communication with management on status of repairs and/or maintenance.
  • Ensure a clean, safe work environment at all times.
  • Maintain shop and field maintenance equipment, including periodic calibration where required.
  • Identify and maintain an inventory of high‑use, common maintenance items.
  • Function “on‑call” to respond to emergency call‑outs.
  • Control costs of in‑house and outsourced maintenance or repairs through use of warranty and vendor evaluation.

Mechanic

Peak’s Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing mechanical problems, repairing and rebuilding equipment on or off‑site. The mechanic must maintain diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, and keeping records. Each employee is responsible and accountable for conducting their job tasks in a safe, healthy, and environmentally prudent manner. The mechanic must have their own hand tools.

Compensation Information

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Physical Demands and Exposures
  • Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration and dust is expected.
  • Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, walking.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to individually lift up to 50 lbs.
