Job summary

Loomis in Burr Ridge, IL, seeks a Fleet Maintenance Technician to service and repair the company’s vehicle fleet and to perform preventive maintenance. The role reports to the Branch Manager and supports on-site operations daily.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of fleet maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license (Class C or better), and knowledge of FMCSA Part 391 and DOT inspection standards. This full-time, on-site position offers an hourly wage commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• At least five years of fleet maintenance experience, preferably with a dealership background.
• Able to drive both automatic and manual transmissions for vehicles 2,000–50,000 lbs.
• Must meet FMCSA Part 391 qualifications.
• DOT brake and annual inspection certifications required or completed via approved training.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair all fleet vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance monthly (lube, oil changes, belts, hoses, brakes, bearings, tires).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, engine and electrical irregularities.
• Drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles for testing, transfer, and parts delivery.
• Perform inventory and order parts as needed.

Job Overview: This position is responsible for the Fleet Operations and Maintenance and reports to the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Service and repair of all fleet vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance (lube, oil change, replace belts, hoses, inspect brakes, repack bearings, check tires, on all size vehicles. Must perform per month.
• Diagnose and effectively repair mechanical, engine and electrical irregularities/malfunctions on all size vehicles.
• Drive automatic and standard shift vehicles for testing, transfer, and pick-up/delivery of parts.
• Perform inventory and order parts, supplies, as needed.

Primary Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience (Preferably Dealership. Foreign/Domestic vehicle experience a plus)
• Possession of valid driver’s license (C or better) and ability to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles from 2,000 to 50,000 lbs. in size.
• Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
• Must meet DOT standards to achieve brake and annual inspection certifications. A minimum of 1 year experience or a certificate from an approved training program.

Individual Skills And Competencies

• Ability to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges (in English). .
• Ability to write work orders, purchase orders.
• Ability to communicate verbally (in English) using telephone for ordering parts and supplies.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a semi-enclosed structure and outdoors.
• Environment involves chemical handling, gasoline/diesel fumes and intermittent high noise exposure.
• Exposed to wet and dry conditions in extreme heat and/or cold.
• Full-time schedule consists of an average of 40 hours per week for a 5-day period.
