Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. in Goose Creek, SC seeks a production sheet metal worker for fabricating, assembling, installing and repairing metal components per blueprints and specs.

You will set up fabricating machinery, form metal, and operate welding/soldering tools while ensuring quality conformance to specifications. Role requires a High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years additional related education/experience, or an Apprenticeship/Associate’s degree with 1 year relevant

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of additional education and/or related experience; or Apprentice graduate/Associate’s Degree in a relevant discipline with 1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs production sheet metal products and equipment in accordance with blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Makes sheet metal layouts; sets up and operates fabricating machinery; shapes metal over anvils, blocks or forms.
• Operates welding and soldering equipment; inspects assemblies and installations for conformance with specifications.
• May monitor and verify quality using statistical process or other control procedures.

The Role

Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs production sheet metal products and equipment such as control boxes, drain pipes, ventilators, and furnace casings in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Makes sheet metal layouts; sets up and operates fabricating machinery; shapes metal over anvils, blocks, or forms; operates welding and soldering equipment; and inspects assemblies and installations for conformance with specifications. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Must Have

High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of additional education and/or related experience; or Apprentice graduate/Associate’s Degree in a relevant discipline with 1 year of related experience. May require certification.
