Job summary

Freeform is developing software-defined, autonomous metal 3D printing factories. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work on mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and integration of complex subsystems in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with electrical and software teams to deliver production-ready platforms, focusing on motion control, thermal and fluid subsystems, and reliability improvements. 3D printing experience is not required for success.

Qualifications

• Hands-on design experience from internships or clubs (FSAE, Baja SAE, etc.).
• Strong grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals and first-principles problem solving.
• ABET-accredited program in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own a cradle-to-grave project delivering impact to print factory capabilities.
• Contribute to design, prototyping, testing, and integration of mechanical components and systems.
• Assist with tolerance analysis and feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
