Job summary

ShopRite of Mount Laurel is seeking a Meat Wrapper Clerk to deliver a great customer experience in the Meat Department, wrapping, packaging, weighing, and price marking merchandise while keeping the department neat and safe. This role supports efficient store operations and high standards of presentation.

The position requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 90 lbs, and working in refrigerated environments; strong English skills and customer friendliness are essential.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Able to perform basic math.
• Able to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 35 lbs., and occasionally lift 80-90 lbs.
• Must possess a strong knowledge of safe food handling and demonstrate safe work habits.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to adhere to all time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance regularly; report any failure immediately.
• Utilize and maintain equipment as required by department; report any equipment problems immediately.
• Maintain sanitation control according to Company policy.
• Stock merchandise and display cases.
• Be knowledgeable in the various types of product carried in the department.
• Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment.
• Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
• Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, gross margins, and apply basic math to verify invoices.
• Work in refrigerated environments and cold storage areas as required.
• Accurately complete required reports including the daily sales report, inventory counts, receiving log, and audit forms.
• Check prices and locate items in the store.
• Promote current charitable promotions to customers.
• Stand at work station for scheduled shift duration; may exceed 8 hours per day.
• Unload trucks and transport merchandise weighing 35 lbs. and occasionally 80-90 lbs.
• Regularly lift, pull, push and rotate merchandise weighing 35 lbs., up to 80-90 lbs.
• Follow COO L regulations for products in the Meat Department.
• Follow company policies, safety requirements, QA standards, and health regulations.
• Dress and groom per policy; wear uniform, name badge, and hat or hair restraints.
• Follow QA hand-washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling food.
• Adhere to shrink guidelines in Meat Department operations.
• Follow HazCom program and manufacturer's label instructions for chemical products.
• Follow weights and measures guidelines.
• Receive, code date, prepare, store, price mark, arrange, and restock products to ensure quality and rotation.
• Handle damaged and spoiled products per policy.
• Fill meat cases when required.
• Remove trash to designated area.
• Complete department training programs.
• Perform duties in line with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, Efficiency).
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
• Work overtime as assigned.
