Overview

Provides support as a member of the meat team, including duties related to counter service, stocking, and sanitation in the meat department. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times, and performing duties in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Team Members must be prepared to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member positions and strive to support WFM core values and goals, promote national, regional, and store programs and initiatives, and adhere to health and safety regulations including Food Safety and regulatory duties for the department.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure a fresh and appealing display by checking quality, keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked, rotating and removing out-of-date products, filling ice tables, and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain back stock in good order.
  • Assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing.
  • Clean cases, glass, signs, uprights, coolers, smokers, floors, and drains as required.
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs in a timely and effective manner, and model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
  • Maximize sales potential through proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment per WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Experience
  • No prior retail experience required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: < 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), > 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.

New entry level Team Members who successfully complete their first 90 days of employment and remain in an eligible role may be eligible for a base rate increase after their 90-day anniversary.
