Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market in San Jose is seeking a Meat Clerk to deliver outstanding customer service while handling meat products, following safety and quality standards in a fast-paced environment. You will receive, store, grind, weigh, rotate meats, assist customers with questions and special orders, and help maintain spotless, organized departments under the Fresh at 4 and Clean as You Go programs.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent; basic knowledge of math, weights and measures.
• Be dependable and reliable and perform other related duties as assigned.
• Have an outgoing and friendly demeanor; a positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Good communication skills; ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
• General housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work areas.
• Adhere to safety, health, weights and measures regulations and company recipes.
• Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours continuously and up to 8 hours per shift; walk up to 2 miles per shift.
• Able to work in a temperature controlled area; perform general housekeeping in the department.
• Ability to use sharp knives, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine and tenderizer.
• Able to lift/carry 25–90 lbs. and move pallets up to 500 lbs.
• Able to move racks and tables weighing up to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service and product knowledge.
• Receive, store, grind meats and prepare orders.
• Unload, transport and rotate meats; ensure freshness and proper labeling.
