Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Meat Science, Animal Science, Biology, Food Science or Microbiology.
• OR one year of meat and poultry inspection or equivalent experience.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and support a diverse, inclusive work environment.
• Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees and deeper knowledge of meat safety and HACCP systems.
• Work environment involves inspecting facilities and coordinating with meat processing plants.

Responsibilities

• Perform ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections at meat and poultry operations.
• Evaluate plant sanitation procedures and HACCP plan effectiveness.
• Monitor Critical Control Points and species processed (beef, pork, etc.).
• Educate firms about regulations and initiate regulatory actions when needed.
• Work in assigned counties outside primary location as required.
