Job summary

Cheney Brothers, Inc. in Orlando, FL is seeking a dedicated meat packer to join our packaging team. You will pack meat in boxes, label, and stack finished product on pallets according to work orders and customer preferences.

Operate the Cryovac sealer, prepare materials, and maintain GMP standards in a cold environment while ensuring efficient production flow. A High school diploma or GED and 1+ year of related experience are required. Compensation includes benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of packing, production line, manufacturing, prep cook or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Review work schedule, perform safety check on equipment, obtain supplies and prepare for operations.
• Check cutting list and obtain appropriate packaging materials (boxes, labels, tape, bags, wrap) from storage with pallet jack.
• Manually assemble boxes-cases, make labels and fill Cryovac sealer with wrap as required.
• Load finished cuts of meat from tubs into Cryovac sealer, raise/lower doors and place sealed meat on work-table.
• Manually pack meat into cases, label and seal cases and stack on pallets.
• Perform general housekeeping duties, maintain safety and quality standards.
• At end of shift, secure equipment and complete paperwork.

Position Summary:

The primary function of this position is to pack meat in boxes, seal, label and stack finished product on pallets according to work order specifications and customer preferences, as well as assemble boxes, clean packaging area and equipment ensuring all GMP and quality standards are met and to maintain the efficient flow of product through the production process.

Position Responsibilities:

• Review work schedule, perform safety check on equipment, obtain supplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations


• Check cutting list and obtain appropriate packaging materials (boxes, labels, tape, bags, wrap) from storage with pallet jack


• Manually assemble boxes-cases, make labels and fill Cryovac sealer with appropriate wrap as required


• Load finished cuts of meat from tubs into Cryovac sealer, raise and lower doors as required and place sealed meat on work-table


• Manually pack meat into cases, label and seal cases with tape gun / or strapping machine and stack finished cases on pallets


• Perform general housekeeping duties, clean packaging work area and equipment, maintain and abide safety and quality regulations and standards as required


• At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)


• 1+ year of experience in packing, production Line, manufacturing, prep cook or other related experience


• Comfortable working in a cold environment (approximately 40°F)


• Ability to perform repeated tasks with attention to detail


• Willing to perform all tasks when and where assigned and as changing situations arise


• Ability to understand to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form


• Ability to perform basic math skills


• Ability to lift, stack, and/or pull product weighing 10–35 lbs. regularly and up to approximately 60–100 lbs. (location dependent)

Compensation

$18.00 per hour and up based on experience
