Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Meat Department Leader in Michigan to oversee daily operations, profitability, and regulatory compliance. You will hire and develop Team Members, monitor labor and inventory, and drive exceptional customer service.

The role requires 24+ months retail experience with at least 12 months in a leadership capacity, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to food safety and quality standards. A flexible schedule including nights and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have food safety certification or commitment to obtain within 6 months.
• Certified Meat Journeyman or equivalent training required.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills essential.
• Proficient in data analysis, budgeting, and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Lead Meat team to deliver outstanding customer service.
• Partner with Store Leadership on hiring and separations.
• Monitor and achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
• Project annual sales and expenses and prepare operating budget.
• Manage ordering and inventory to meet profit targets.
• Foster positive relationships with staff and vendors.
• Maintain knowledge of competitors and industry trends.
• Uphold safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Provide regular performance evaluations and coaching.
