Job summary

SpartanNash is seeking a Lead Meat Department associate at our Elkhart, IN location. This role leads day-to-day department operations, ensures proper cutting, weighing, stocking, and quality control of meats, and assists in scheduling, training, and payroll management.

You will monitor inventory, reflect promotions, and enforce food safety and PPE guidelines while maintaining a clean, well-stocked department and delivering excellent guest experiences.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products preferred.
• Detail Oriented.
• Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day activities of the department operations in a retail store.
• Order and maintain inventory in the department.
• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, and other meats for servings.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight.
• Assist Department Manager in managing staffing, training, and payroll expense.
• Maintain familiarity with all products and promotions in-store.
• Ensure food safety and PPE guidelines are followed.
• Develop plans to meet department goals and KPIs.
• Participate in daily huddles and implement scheduling and productivity standards.
