Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Meat Department Leader to oversee daily Meat operations in the Chicago area store. You will supervise the Meat Department in the Meat Manager's absence, ensure safe, clean, and inviting environments, and support sales goals with a focus on exceptional customer service.

Role requires experience in meat handling, strong communication, and the ability to train and develop associates while maintaining quality standards and price integrity.

Qualifications

• Must have strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Experience in meat department operations preferred.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Effective communication skills required.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety and food safety regulations.
• Lead and supervise Meat Department in the Meat Manager's absence.
• Support daily Meat operations and scheduling.
• Train and develop associates on inventory and product handling.
• Ensure product quality, freshness and accurate pricing.
• Assist customers with product questions and recommendations.
• Maintain merchandising standards and promotional signage.
• Monitor shrink and use Cutting Tool to manage production.
• Report safety risks and incidents promptly.
• Ensure compliance with labeling and accuracy of case temperatures.
