Job Responsibilities

Sees that all products are properly prepared (cutting and trimming), handled, wrapped, and merchandised.

Receives and checks all meat deliveries upon arrival to ensure merchandise is in good condition, and that the correct quantities and weights are received.

Assists in planning special promotions and displays.

Is responsible for signage, correct weights (tare and packaging), and pricing.

Ensures all merchandise is rotated according to code dating policy.

Maintains the meat department by keeping cases full.

Keeps meat department fixtures, equipment, and area clean, sanitized, and free from accident hazards at all times.

Handles all store property and equipment to maximize usage.

Performs freshness checks and reconditions products as needed.

Maintains a high level of product knowledge and merchandising skills to meet department goals.

Provides courteous and friendly customer service.

Keeps records as requested.

Orders meat products as needed.

Operates saws, cubers, slicers, scales, grinders, and labeling machines.

Assists customers and employees as needed.

Prepares, weighs, packages, prices, stocks, and rotates products to maximize gross profit.

Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and general sanitation.

Operates telephones and intercoms, practicing proper etiquette.

Follows all company policies outlined in the employee handbook.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be a self-starter.

Ability to read and write.

Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Provides verbal and physical assistance to customers.

Ability to lift and stack up to 100 pounds.

Can pull or push wheeled vehicles weighing up to 1,000 pounds.

Can reach and stock products up to 6 feet high.
