Job description

The Meat Cutter Helper is responsible for weighing and serving meat while attending to our customers and ensuring all displays and equipment are clean and sanitized . Health and safety regulations must be followed extremely carefully in the meat department.

Requirements

• Previousexperienceinmeat department positions in a professional environment is preferred
• Good communicationskills and ability for teamwork
• Food Workers Card
• Have reliable commute to work
• Physical:Must be able to stand and move around during the day,liftand carry up to 30 lbs.
• Language: Understand and speak English and Spanish
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, especially around holidays and weekends
• Know how toproperly useandmaintainmeat department machinery such as scales, label makers, etc. or willingness to learn
• Have knowledge of basic cuts of meat for cow, sheep, pig, etc. or willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Maintaining an active Food Workers Card*
• Have a positive attitude towards safety, follow all health and safety regulations and/or policies to ensure the well-being of others and self
• Attend work with company provided uniform and have a tidy appearance
• Weigh and serve meat according to client preferences
• Take special meat orders with detailtohow the client wants the meat cut and prepared
• Advice customers on the different cuts of meat, preparation, and other questions they may have
• Package a variety of cuts of meat in a safe and attractive wayfollowing quality standardsfor display cases and individual sale
• Label all meat products correctly with essential information such as price, date packaged, and date ofexpiration
• Complete daily checks for meat quality, checkingexpirationdates, and cleaning all display cases
• Keep inventory of meat and suppliesto ensure there is enough for day-to-day operations and special orders, report anything needed to Meat Cutter
• Consistently rotate all stock of meat to ensure freshness
• Make sure all workspaces, equipment, and meat storage areas are sanitized and cleaned consistently
• Complete other tasks as needed under the Meat Cutter’s instructions
