Job summary

Pick 'N Save in Wisconsin is hiring for a meat department associate to deliver excellent customer service and maintain quality standards. You will assist customers, cut meats to requested sizes, showcase products, and help maintain a clean, safe department environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and adherence to Kroger family guidelines, with opportunities to grow in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
• Current food handlers permit once employed
• Possess adequate knife handling skills and knife speed
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Meat experience (preferred)
• Retail experience (preferred)
• Second language skills (optional)

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Cut meats to customer requests using proper cutting equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of meat specials.
• Provide customers with fresh/frozen products and correct portion sizes.
• Recommend meat items to meet customer needs.
• Use equipment in the meat department (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
• Prepare food to company standards.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Perform preventive maintenance and report needed repairs.
• Notify management of accidents and safety risks.
• Report all safety risk, or issues, including theft or fraud.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.
• Manage conflict in a constructive manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
