Job summary

Sam's Club in Torrance, CA is hiring a Meat Team Associate to help ensure quality meat products, accurate packaging, and inviting displays. You will be on the front lines of customer service, using handheld tools to drive sales and maintain high standards of cleanliness and product quality.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Be a Team Member: Collaborate with other associates to build a strong meat team; communicate with the team and be flexible to the needs of the business, including working in other areas.
  • Be an Expert: Demonstrate knowledge of business on the floor, backroom operations, product safety standards, sanitation guidelines, inventory management, and operation, maintenance, and sanitization of equipment; prepare meat products such as cutting, grinding, wrapping, trimming; cut boneless meat products; and maintain product quality standards.
  • Be a Techie: Leverage handheld technology to drive sales, improve the shopping experience, and elevate associate engagement; use handheld technology to make immediate business decisions related to production, training, and product quality with the member in mind; adapt to new tools and encourage others to use them.
  • Be an Owner: Ensure commitment to operational excellence, keep work area in accordance with company policies; maintain quality and date-control standards for meat products; secure fragile and high-shrink merchandise; eliminate waste; assist members with purchasing decisions; and ensure merchandise is properly packaged, labeled, and stored per company policies.
  • Be a Talent Ambassador: Advocate for the department and the club by valuing the member’s experience in the meat area and modeling high-quality service and products; execute the basics at the highest possible level; exhibit energy, commitment, and passion for the work.
  • Complete work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborate with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identify priorities, deadlines, and expectations; communicate progress and information; determine and recommend ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapt to change, difficulty, and feedback.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans, using the Open Door Policy, and applying these in executing business processes and practices.
