Job summary

Progresso in Cypress, TX is hiring a Meat Cutter to join our team in a full-time role. You will prepare products, cut meat to Mexico/US standards, and maintain quality and safety in the display and prep areas.

The position requires 2 years of meat-cutting experience, basic math skills, the ability to read at an eighth-grade level, and flexibility to work weekends and holidays in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience as a meat cutter.
• Ability to read at an eighth-grade level.
• Basic knowledge of mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
• Knowledge of weight measurements.
• Ability to use the scales.
• Knowledge of Mexican meat cuts.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Fill the display case and separate products (dairy, seafood, chicken and meat).
• Prepare marinades.
• Make different cuts of meat (Mexico / U.S.).
• Manage temperatures.
• Apply health standards.
• Clean the meat market area, including freezers.
• Keep the freezer clean and organized.
• Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Keep work area clean, orderly and free from safety hazards.
• Report faulty equipment and hazards to management.
• Perform any other task assigned by the Store Manager.

• 1. Fill the display case and make the necessary separations of the different products (dairy, seafood, chicken and meat).
• 2. Prepare marinades.
• Make different cuts of meat (Mexico / U.S.).
• 6. Manage temperatures.
• 7. Apply health standards.
• 8. Clean the meat market area in general, including freezers.
• 10. Keep the freezer clean and organized.
• 11. Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• 12. Keep work area clean, orderly and free from safety hazards.
• 13. Report faulty equipment and hazards to management.
• 14. PERFORM ANY OTHER TASK ASSIGNED BY THE STORE MANAGER.
