Job Description

The Meat Clerk is responsible for performing duties as directed by the Meat Manager and/or Assistant Meat Manager for the successful operation of the Meat Department. It is essential that, as a Meat Clerk, you present yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times while performing your defined responsibilities. You are responsible for always maintaining our high standards of Customer Service. Other duties may be assigned as required, depending upon available time, business volume and other criteria as determined by your supervisors and/or Gerrity’s Supermarkets. Full compliance with current and future policies will be required to ensure that your work contribution is in the best interest of Gerrity’s Supermarkets.

Responsibilities

• Greets and waits on customers and thanks customers upon their complete satisfaction
• Slices and weighs meat orders to the satisfaction of the customer
• Maintains and stocks all designated department areas
• Cleans all department equipment periodically throughout their shift and at close of business
• Always maintains cleanliness and sanitation throughout department areas
• Sets up and tears down all required areas at designated times
• Be aware and communicate to customers all departmental or store promotions
• Will be present at your workstation at the start of your shift
• Comply fully with all safety policies and procedures
• Adhere to the Customer Service Pledge at all times
• Maintain a neat, professional appearance at all times while working and strictly adhere to the Dress Code policy
• Attendance at your job is essential to the overall function of your department
• Will comply with all policies contained within the Employee Handbook
• All areas are designated within the Essential Functions of your job responsibilities

Qualifications

• Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, such as pounds and weight increments
• Ability to hear, speak, and understand the spoken word
• Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency to read and understand
• Employee frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and taste or smell
• While performing duties, the employee regularly required to stand, and utilize full hand and digit functions, reach with hands and arms while manipulating objectsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision with the ability to adjust focus
