Job summary

Fiesta Mart in Houston, TX is seeking a Meat Clerk to support the Willowbrook store. You will provide friendly customer service, stock and rotate meat displays, assist with special orders, and work with the Meat Cutter to determine items to cut. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and stand for long periods is required.

The role supports a fast-paced grocery environment, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and community service. Food handler awareness is beneficial for the position.

Qualifications

• Read and write Spanish/English; interact with customers and coworkers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information to customers and employees.
• Apply common sense to follow instructions.
• Regularly lift/move up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous customer service at the Meat Clerk station.
• Clean shelves and display cases; rotate meat wrap displays.
• Assist customers with special orders and coordinate with the Meat Cutter.
• Lift up to 50–60 lbs and stand for prolonged periods.
• Follow safety and handling procedures for food products.

Candidates should possess the ability to:

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision, the Meat Clerk provides friendly, courteous and helpful customer service. Assists the customers, clean shelves, and display cases. Cleans, fills, and rotates the Meat Wrap displays. Works with customers to take special orders as well as with the Meat Cutter to determine which items need to be cut. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., Bend, stand and stoop for prolonged periods.

The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
