Job summary

Fiesta Mart in Houston (Store 005 Houston-Mykawa) seeks a Meat Clerk to deliver friendly customer service, manage meat displays, wraps, and special orders. You will work in a fast-paced store environment and assist customers with their needs.

The role requires the ability to read/write Spanish and English, lift up to 60 lbs, and stand for extended periods. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Read and write Spanish/English to interact with the public and coworkers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labeling, and pricing codes.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Explain information clearly to customers in one-on-one or small group settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous customer service to shoppers.
• Clean and rotate meat displays; assist with meat wrapping and cases.
• Interact with customers to take special orders and coordinate with the Meat Cutter.
• Stand, lift, bend, and move as needed for prolonged periods in a fast-paced grocery environment.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision, the Meat Clerk provides friendly, courteous and helpful customer service. Assists the customers, cleans shelves, and displays cases. Cleans, fills, and rotates the Meat Wrap displays. Works with customers to take special orders as well as with the Meat Cutter to determine which items need to be cut. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., bend, stand and stoop for prolonged periods.

The working environment is typical for a fast‑paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements. Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to: preparation, handling and serving food.
