Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Preferred: grocery/retail/food service or meat department experience.
• Preferred: knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Preferred: meat cutting, knife handling or meat prep experience.
• Preferred: ability to recommend cuts and cooking methods.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, helpful guest service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Package and label meat products accurately per weight and pricing.
• Assist guests with product selection, cuts, and cooking recommendations.
• Stock, rotate, and face products to maintain freshness and presentation.
• Monitor dates, storage conditions, and temperature logs to ensure quality.
• Maintain clean, organized service cases and displays.
• Ensure proper handling and temperature control of all meat products.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
• Operate scales, wrappers, scanners, and basic cutting tools safely.
• Develop knowledge of meat products, pricing, and promotions.
• Monitor inventory and report low or damaged items to leadership.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment on floor and backroom.
• Communicate clearly with teammates, leadership, and vendors.
• Collaborate across departments to support store performance and guest satisfaction.
• Adhere to company policies including attendance, conduct, and dress code.
• Remain productive during slow periods by cleaning and restocking.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities & Job Duties

• Provide friendly, helpful, and respectful guest service at all times to ensure a positive shopping experience and encourage repeat visits
• Package and label meat products accurately in compliance with weight, pricing, and regulatory guidelines
• Assist guests with product selection, custom cuts (as applicable), and cooking recommendations
• Stock, rotate, and face products using FIFO methods to maintain freshness, minimize waste, and ensure an appealing presentation
• Monitor product dates, storage conditions, and temperature logs to maintain quality and reduce shrink
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked service cases and displays
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and temperature control of all meat products
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards
• Operate equipment such as scales, wrappers, scanners, and basic cutting tools safely and accurately
• Develop and maintain knowledge of meat products, pricing, and promotions to better assist guests and drive sales
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate low, excess, or damaged items to department leadership to support product availability
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in both sales floor and backroom areas
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with teammates, leadership, and vendors to support efficient operations
• Collaborate across departments to support overall store performance and guest satisfaction

Minimum Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
• Required: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Preferred: Experience in grocery, retail, food service, or meat/seafood departments
• Preferred: Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
• Preferred: Experience with meat cutting, knife handling, or meat/seafood preparation
• Preferred: Ability to provide recommendations on cuts, preparation, and cooking methods
