General Function

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Wraps, trims, stocks cases, and receives merchandise in the Meat and/or Seafood Department.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home, Meat Department Manager, Assistant Meat Department Manager, Seafood Department Manager, Assistant Seafood Department Manager, Service Managers.

Positions that Report to you: Under certain circumstances, part-time stockers could receive direction from this position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Greets customers with a smile, whether in the department or elsewhere in the store.
• Attempts to learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible.
• Assists customers by escorting them, securing out-of-reach products, loading heavy items, passing on suggestions, and enhancing the shopping experience.
• Answers calls promptly and provides helpful service, including taking orders.
• Works as part of a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
• Wraps, weighs, labels products, and ensures food freshness through proper stocking and rotation.
• Prepares and organizes seafood items for display.
• Practices proper sanitation and maintains a clean work area.
• Replenishes coolers, reports out-of-stock items, and prepares products like trays and cuts.
• Maintains personal hygiene and dress according to guidelines.
• Reports to work on time as scheduled.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares signage, orders replenishment merchandise, assists in other store areas, and performs related duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and deal with concrete variables.
• Basic arithmetic skills.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent; food safety training; up to six months of related work experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 85 pounds occasionally, 40 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual acuity from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, including color vision and depth perception.
• Perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Continual exposure to cool and damp environments, noise, cleaning solvents, and electrical hazards in a fast-paced setting.

Equipment Used

Knives, grinders, patty maker, tenderizer, slicer, pallet jack, tumbler, wrapping system, rotisserie.
