Socket.dev, based in Carthage, Texas, is seeking a Measurement Technician I to install, inspect, calibrate and maintain gas and liquid measurement equipment, ensuring accuracy, safety, and reliability across field and shop environments.

You will collaborate with Operations, Production and Instrumentation personnel, document measurement anomalies, support well reviews, and maintain meticulous records and data to sustain optimal production.

Qualifications

  • Two years oil and gas industry experience preferred.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Knowledge of orifice measurement principles and sizing.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to learn area systems, operations and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot measurement equipment.
  • Identify hazards and report incidents per safety policies.
  • Document measurement anomalies and communicate findings to supervisor.
  • Coordinate with team to complete schedule measurements safely and on time.
  • Validate products, collect samples, and complete required documentation.
  • Provide measurement support to Operations and Production to maintain field reliability.
  • Assist with well reviews and suggested actions to increase production.

Job description

Description

The Measurement Technician I supports accurate and reliable gas and liquid measurement by installing, inspecting, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting measurement equipment in accordance with established procedures, safety requirements, and industry standards. This position works closely with Operations, Production, and Instrumentation and Electrical personnel and reports measurement issues to the Measurement Foreman.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in accordance with company safety policies and procedures; identify hazards and promptly report incidents and near misses.
  • Identify, investigate, document, and promptly communicate measurement anomalies to the Measurement Foreman.
  • Coordinate with team members to complete scheduled and unscheduled measurement activities safely, accurately, and on time.
  • Validate products, collect samples, and complete required documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures and measurement best practices.
  • Provide responsive measurement support to Operations and Production personnel to maintain reliable field operations.
  • Install measurement equipment for new wells and inspect, replace, repair, and calibrate existing measurement devices.
  • Apply knowledge of gas operations to assist Instrumentation and Electrical and Production personnel with troubleshooting measurement systems and related equipment.
  • Participate in well reviews and recommend measurement-related actions that may help increase production and minimize base decline.
  • Collect, verify, and maintain meter data accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain field communications systems to achieve an availability rate of 98% or greater.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and keep assigned tools and equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of relevant oil and gas industry experience.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Working knowledge of orifice measurement principles and orifice sizing.
  • General computer proficiency, including accurate data entry, file management, and electronic record retention.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability and willingness to learn area systems, operations, and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including responding outside regular working hours when assigned.
  • Preferred: Experience with Cygnet Vision, Cygnet Explorer, PCCU, FreeWave Tool Suite, ROCLINK 800 with Autoconfig, and CalcIt.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with AGA 3, API MPMS Chapter 21.1, API MPMS Chapter 14.3, and API MPMS Chapter 14.1.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in both field and office settings and requires regular standing and walking, with periods of sitting, stooping, bending, and reaching.
  • Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 10 to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods as required by field and office assignments.
  • Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally lift up to 100 pounds using appropriate equipment or assistance and in accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Potential exposure to noise levels that require the use of hearing protection.
  • Work may be performed outdoors in rain, extreme heat or cold, high winds, ice, snow, wet or humid conditions, vibration, and dust, and may occur near moving mechanical parts.
