Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Oil & Gas Measurement Technician to operate in field locations across West Texas. You will measure volumes, calibrate flow computers, and troubleshoot a variety of meters and sampling systems, while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires ability to work autonomously at remote sites, mentor junior staff, manage regulatory reporting, and respond to outages or alarms as part of an emergency response team. Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate measurement of volumes and identify potential maintenance needs.
  • Use meters to inform Company and customers about pipeline flows.
  • Manage measurement assets around Ector through Midland County.
  • Perform complex calibration, troubleshooting, and repair tasks.
  • Train and mentor new or less skilled employees.
  • Measure low- and high-pressure gathering systems.
  • Install, program, and calibrate Electronic Flow Measurement computers.
  • Collect liquid samples and install, operate, and maintain sampling systems.
  • Install, program, maintain, and calibrate chromatographs.
  • Witness proving on liquid meters and perform related inspections.
  • Work autonomously at remote field locations and respond to callouts.
  • Complete required training and regulatory reporting.

Job description

  • Ensure accurate measurement of volumes and identify potential preventative maintenance needs
  • Use meters to inform the Company and customers about pipeline flows
  • Manage measurement assets around Ector through Midland County, focusing on flow computers, sampling, and LACT units
  • Perform complex calibration, troubleshooting, and repair tasks
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies, including L&U and quality shifts
  • Train and mentor new or less skilled employees
  • Measure low- and high-pressure gathering systems
  • Install, program, and calibrate Electronic Flow Measurement computers
  • Collect liquid samples and install, operate, and maintain liquid sampling systems
  • Install, program, maintain, and calibrate portable and stationary gas or liquid chromatographs
  • Schedule, complete, and witness proving on liquid meters
  • Inspect, calibrate, and repair meters and associated equipment, including provers, Coriolis, positive displacement, turbine, ultrasonic meters, and flow computers
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair communications equipment and sampling systems
  • Perform product composition, quality sampling, and testing
  • Work autonomously at remote field locations and remain available for callout
  • Complete required training, risk management reviews, and safety meetings
  • Follow procedures and company and industry standards to meet regulatory requirements
  • Complete timesheets, Testit Tickets, safe job plans/work permits, and regulatory reports
  • Maintain facility appearance and safety through housekeeping
  • Use tools and test equipment effectively
  • Respond to operational emergencies as part of an emergency response team
  • Perform and document regulatory-required inspections
  • Oversee contractors providing specialty services
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Automatic Tank Gauging equipment
  • Witness NGL and crude LACT skid proving
  • Perform other related duties as needed
Requirements
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Currently live or be willing to relocate to within 35 miles of the reporting locations
  • Occasionally exert pulling force of 130 pounds
  • Frequently lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly stoop, squat, kneel, and crouch for durations up to 30 minutes
  • Periodically pull/push doors open to move around the facility
  • Occasionally climb A-frame ladders, including heights up to 40 feet for tank service
  • Occasionally travel (up to 15%) as needed
  • Willing to be on a scheduled or unscheduled overtime, on-call rotation and handle callouts
  • Work at times in a loud work environment
  • Work inside plant conditions and outside conditions including inclement weather, heat, and humidity
  • Wear personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, steel-toe shoes, ear, and eye protection
  • 1 or more years of experience in oil and gas or relevant industry (preferred)
  • 1 or more years of experience in the gas measurement field (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of and/or experience with portable gas chromatograph (preferred)
  • Experience working with drawings and schematics (preferred)
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team (preferred)
  • Successful completion of an online assessment
  • U.S. citizenship, nationality, permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or qualifying temporary resident status; temporary visa holders and candidates needing current or future sponsorship are ineligible
