Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a skilled technician in the gas measurement domain to support emergency responses and the installation, calibration, and maintenance of meters, regulators, and related equipment. The role includes training, record-keeping, and operating a range of test instruments.

The candidate will handle odorant injection equipment maintenance and adhere to regulatory codes. A valid driver's license and strong communication skills are essential for success in this

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 1 year of natural or propane gas experience.
  • Working knowledge of regulators and meters.
  • Meter & regulator course to be completed within 1 year.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with initiative.
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet tools.
  • Strong time management, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and public speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency response to failures related to measurement and regulation equipment.
  • Install, calibrate and maintain meters, regulators, pressure control, and communication equipment at Receipt Points, P&R Stations, and District Regulator Stations.
  • Provide training related to measurement activities as directed.
  • Create and maintain records related to equipment and facilities per applicable codes and regulations.
  • Maintain odorant injection equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager, Measurement.
  • Operate and maintain CGI, HFI unit, odorometer and gas detection equipment.
  • Operate and maintain differential meter testing equipment and electronic calibration gear.
  • Operate and maintain voltage/current meters and other test instruments.

What you'll be working on…
  • Responsibility for immediate emergency response to failures related to measurement and regulation equipment.
  • Responsibility for installation, calibration and maintenance of meters, regulators, pressure control, and communication equipment for Receipt Points, Pressure Control Stations, M&R Stations, and District Regulator Stations.
  • Responsibility for providing training, as directed, related to measurement activities.
  • Responsibility for creation and maintenance of records related to above equipment and facilities as required by pertinent codes, laws, statutes and regulations.
  • Responsibility for maintenance and filling of Odorant injection equipment.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned by Mgr., Measurement.
  • Operating and maintaining CGI, HFI unit, odorometer and related gas detection equipment.
  • Operating and maintaining differential meter testing equipment, electronic pressure and temperature calibration equipment.
  • Operating and maintaining voltage / current meters and various other electronic test instruments.
Who you are...
  • You have a High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • You have one year of natural or propane gas experience.
  • You have a working knowledge of regulators and meters.
  • You have completed or will complete a meter and regulator course within one year.
  • You have a valid Driver's license.
  • You are detailed oriented and very organized with a high level of initiative.
  • You have proficient computer skills (i.e. word processing and spreadsheet).
  • You possess strong time management skills, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • You have excellent verbal, written skills and public speaking skills.
