Job summary

Horizons is seeking a part-time Meals on Wheels Driver in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will deliver warm meals to older adults and people with disabilities, provide a friendly face, and support pantry operations as needed.

The role requires a valid Iowa driver’s license, ability to lift up to 40 lbs, and reliable transportation. A background check and pre-employment drug testing are required. Typical shift is Tue-Fri, 9:00 am–1:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Valid Iowa driver’s license and auto insurance.
• Clean MVR check.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Deliver meals to clients and drop-off locations in a timely, temperature-controlled manner.
• Assist in packing coolers and reviewing meal counts before distribution.
• Load/unload vehicles and keep delivery area clean.
• Perform daily safety checks and maintain sanitary delivery practices.
• Complete required paperwork and communicate progress with team.

What you'll do

• Deliver accurate, timely, and temperature-appropriate meals to clients and designated drop-off locations
• Assist in packing coolers, review meal counts before distribution, and load/unload vehicles
• Perform daily safety check-ins with clients and maintain sanitary delivery practices
• Keep vehicles clean and in working order; adhere to all driving laws at all times
• Complete required paperwork and communicate daily progress with your team and supervisor
• Support pantry operations and other tasks as needed

Requirements

• Valid Iowa driver's license and auto insurance
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR check required)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs; walk and stand for extended periods
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Must pass a criminal history and background check and pre- employment drug/alcohol testing
