Momentum Engineering, Inc. seeks a Microservices Developer to modernize a legacy operational system using a microservices-based architecture and modern cloud-native technologies.

The role focuses on designing, developing, integrating, and deploying Java Spring Boot microservices on AWS with REST APIs, CI/CD, and containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
• At least 6 years of relevant software development experience or 4 years with a Master’s degree
• Experience in Agile development environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work in a team-oriented software development environment
• Ability to support an on-call rotation

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Java Spring Boot microservices using AWS and cloud-native tech
• Build RESTful services to filter and process complex data objects

Job Summary

• Seeking a Microservices Developer to support modernization of a legacy operational system using a microservices-based architecture and modern cloud-native technologies
• The successful candidate will design, develop, integrate, and deliver Java Spring Boot microservices leveraging AWS-native services, REST APIs, CI/CD practices, and containerized deployment technologies

Primary Responsibilities

• Design and develop Java Spring Boot microservices using AWS-native technologies
• Build RESTful services capable of filtering, selecting, and processing complex data objects
• Support modernization of legacy applications into scalable microservices-based architectures
• Implement CI/CD principles and automated delivery workflows using Maven, GitLab, GitOps, and related tooling
• Develop, integrate, test, and deploy software in an Agile development environment
• Support containerized application deployment using Docker and Kubernetes
• Develop and maintain interfaces with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and release activities
• Collaborate closely with software developers, systems engineers, testers, product owners, and other stakeholders
• Troubleshoot application and integration issues across development and production environments
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting operational systems

Required Qualifications

• Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
• At least six (6) years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree plus four (4) years of relevant experience
• Experience developing software in an Agile environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented software development environment
• Ability to support an on-call rotation

Desired Qualifications

• Candidates should have experience with at least two of the following:
• Java, Spring Boot, or Python
• CI/CD technologies and practices, including AWS tools, Maven, GitLab, GitOps, Kubernetes, and Docker
• NoSQL databases, including MongoDB query development and schema design
• OAuth / OIDC implementation
• Automated testing frameworks such as Playwright and Cucumber

Exempt hourly position. 11 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks PTO, company sponsored group medical plan, company paid dental, vision, life insurance, and STD/LTD plans. Salary is dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
