Job summary

Topaz Fiscal Services seeks a qualified MDS Coordinator to oversee the resident assessment process in a compliant, timely manner. The role requires extensive MDS knowledge and an active RN license. You will manage assessment schedules, coordinate care plans, and ensure accurate documentation.

You will participate in PPS and Medicare meetings, optimize regulatory compliance, and contribute to facility billing accuracy.

Qualifications

• Must be an experienced nurse with extensive knowledge in MDS.
• Proficient in MDS 3.0.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee completion of resident assessment instruments per Federal and State regulations.
• Coordinate the assessment process and set assessment schedules for timely accuracy.
• Transmit assessments weekly to CMS and review results for corrections.
• Coordinate the care plan per regulatory requirements.
• Lead or participate in PPS, Medicare, care conferences, and monthly triple check meetings.

Job description

MDS Coordinator Job Duties:

MDS Coordinators oversee and facilitate the completion of resident assessment instrument in accordance with current Federal and State Regulations. Throughout the assessment and while planning care, they ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations. MDS Coordinators oversee the assessment process, setting the assessment schedules and assuring that assessments are done in an accurate and timely manner. The MDS Coordinator transmits assessments weekly to CMS. They review the results to make any needed corrections and ensure all assessments are transmitted timely. MDS Coordinators coordinate the care plan as according to regulatory requirements. MDS Coordinators create the assessment schedule for all residents. They also complete and deliver denial notices. The MDS Coordinator must be an experienced nurse preferably with extensive knowledge in MDS. The MDS Coordinator leads or participates in daily PPS meetings, weekly Medicare meetings, weekly care conference meetings and monthly triple check meetings to assure federal billing requirements are met.
