Job summary

NHC HealthCare Fort Sanders in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Registered Nurse with MDS experience to serve as MDS Coordinator (part-time, with potential for continued role). The RN will oversee Resident Assessment Instrument processes ensuring timely assessments per CMS/OBRA guidelines.

You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document assessments, and support care planning and accuracy of medical records.

Qualifications

• Must have Tennessee RN license and be able to perform and document assessments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
• Experience with MDS processes or OBRA guidelines is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accurate assessments of residents using the MDS process.
• Interview patients and families to obtain complete psychosocial/medical status.
• Coordinate with disciplines to ensure timely MDS completion.
• Maintain organized schedules and deadlines for documentation.
• Support medical record accuracy through staff training and in-services.
• Communicate with bookkeeping and center partners as needed.

The MDS Coordinator, RN will provide consistent application and oversight of the center’s Resident Assessment Instrument process assuring timely and accurate assessment according to CMS and OBRA guidelines.Through leadership and demeanor, represents the center in a positive manner both in the medical community and in the community as a whole.

Position Highlights:

• Ability to conduct and document accurate assessments of patients
• Ability to interview patients and families to ensure an accurate picture of the patient’s psychosocial/medical status is obtained
• Ability to coordinate with other disciplines to ensure accurate and timely completion of the MDS.
• Organizational skills, ability to schedule and meet deadlines
• Monitoring the overall medical record to validate support of MDS coding
• Works with interdisciplinary team to assure timely completion of Resident assessment Protocols and Patient Care Plans
• Supports the accuracy of medical record documentation through ongoing in-services to center partners
• Communication with the bookkeeping department
