Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the daily activities of nursing assistants, in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Responsibilities include:

  1. Administer patient assessments, oversee the assessment process, and ensure assessments are completed accurately and timely.
  2. Coordinate the care plan according to regulatory requirements.
  3. Create schedules for Medicare and Medicaid, initiate coverage for new patients, and handle denials.
  4. Stay updated on Medicare and Medicaid changes and assist with documentation for reimbursements.
  5. Supervise nursing assistants and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  6. Maintain and review policies, procedures, and manuals, making revisions as needed.
  7. Plan shifts and activities with nursing staff and support personnel.
  8. Ensure the Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current and followed.
  9. Report on shift activities and cooperate with other departments to maintain comprehensive resident care.
  10. Participate in quality assurance programs, facility surveys, and discharge planning.
  11. Handle administrative duties such as documentation, resident admission/discharge, and incident reports.
  12. Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of resident information and medications.
  13. Participate in staff development, safety, sanitation, and equipment management programs.
  14. Review and update care plans, assist with assessments, and contribute to budgeting and planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must possess strong communication skills, leadership qualities, and knowledge of nursing practices and regulations. Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting and moving residents, is required.

Education & Experience

Must have a Nursing Degree or be a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program, with an active license in TN, current CPR certification, and ongoing continuing education. Experience with PCC is preferred.
