Community Mental Health Affiliates, Inc. (CMHA) is a private nonprofit provider headquartered in New Britain, CT, seeking a full-time 1st shift Therapist Assistant located at 233 Main St, New Britain. The role supports MDFT treatment for youth/young adults and families across home, office, and community settings.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, treatment team collaboration, and documentation. Education requires a Bachelor’s in social work or related field with CT driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in social work/human service. Exceptions to education level may apply based on contract requirements and approval from contract holder.
• Valid CT driver’s license and ability to provide own transportation.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with adolescents with substance abuse/behavioral health problems.
• Beginner to intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
• Experience in, or ability to learn how to use an EMR system which includes appointment scheduling, authorization tracking, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries.

Responsibilities

• Establish a trusting supportive relationship with family members through direct contact in the context of home visits, phone contacts and assistance in times of crisis.
• Work as part of the treatment team with the assigned clinician, providing assistance to both youth, families, and treatment team members.
• Maintains appropriate caseload as determined by agency and funder. Provides crisis intervention to family in the home, office or community if need arises. This includes on‑call 24/7 coverage of families on caseload.
• Adhering to documentation requirements and data collection/entry related to MDFT fidelity monitoring and project evaluation efforts.
• Engages clients in treatment plan interventions, particularly around clinical involvement, drug testing and activities that will help to support the MDFT model of treatment.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community agencies and organizations, in order to provide comprehensive and effective treatment services for clients (i.e., schools, courts, hospitals, after school programs, DCF, probation, detox/ residential substance abuse treatment facilities, etc.).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
