WellQuest of Elk Grove is seeking an Activities Assistant to support resident engagement in Elk Grove, CA. You will assist in planning monthly activity calendars, coordinate with the Programs Director, and help implement exercise and social programs for seniors.

The role requires caring, reliable teamwork, and the ability to communicate clearly with residents, staff, families, and vendors. A health screening and first aid training may be required; English proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

  • Six months experience in providing planned activities or current enrollment in an education or training program.
  • One year experience in conducting group activities and evaluating residents’ needs, supervising staff and training volunteers.
  • Preferred one year of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations for pricing and producing reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with residents, staff, families, visitors and vendors.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Proficient in basic office equipment (including a PC) for job performance.
  • Good health verified by a health screening; able to move and assist residents as needed.
  • Displays sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults.
  • Criminal record clearance and current first aid training; must be at least 18.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Director of Programs, care staff and receptionists to maximize resident participation.
  • Assist in monthly activity calendar planning and brainstorm new activities.
  • Update digital signs, menus, and movie descriptions.
  • Survey residents to identify interests and make recommendations.
  • Help develop and maintain daily exercise programming.
  • Communicate with the Director of Activities to ensure programs are implemented effectively.
  • Set up activities, assist with cleanup and organize supplies.
  • Report safety concerns and ensure resident protection.
  • Assist with Marketing events and social media updates as needed.
  • Lead activities according to the monthly calendar under supervision.
  • Assist with flyer/calendar/newsletter creation and volunteer coordination.
  • Coordinate transportation needs and vehicle scheduling.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and report issues promptly.

Salary Range: $18.50 - $19.50 Hourly

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  1. Work with Director of Programs, care staff, and receptionists to ensure that the highest possible number of residents attend each activity.
  2. Assist in the monthly planning of the activity calendar. Brainstorm with Programs Director to plan and to conduct new activities.
  3. Update digital signs, menu activity schedules, and movie descriptions.
  4. Assist with surveying residents and making observations and recommendations to determine what activities are of interest.
  5. Help to develop and to maintain the daily exercise programming.
  6. Communicate with the Director of Activities to ensure each program is being implemented to its fullest potential. Provide Activity Director with feedback regarding the effectiveness of current programming.
  7. Set-up for activities as necessary and assist in clean-up afterward. Clean up and stow away supplies upon completion of activity. Organize supplies and materials in an orderly fashion. Notify the Programs Director in a timely fashion of all supplies that need to be replenished.
  8. Practice good safety and protect residents from any possible harm. Report all safety concerns immediately.
  9. Assist with Marketing events
  10. Plan and lead activities according to monthly calendar and under the direction of Director of Activities.
  11. Assist in making flyers, calendars, newsletters and updating social media websites as needed
  12. Work with volunteers such as scheduling, training and organizing day-to-day assignments
  13. Assist with scheduling transportation or driving vehicles as needed
  14. Ensure regulatory compliance and report any issues or concerns immediately
Qualifications
  • Must have at least six (6) months experience in providing planned activities or be enrolled in an appropriate education or training program.
  • Must have one (1) year of experience in conducting group activities and be knowledgeable in evaluating residents’ needs, supervising other employees and in training volunteers.
  • Prefer one (1) year of supervisory experience
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations for preparing pricing and producing reports.
  • Demonstrates sound communications skills, both verbally and written in dealing with residents, staff, families, visitors and vendors.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Be proficient in basic office equipment (including a personal computer) for the purpose of accomplishing and maintaining a high level of job performance.
  • Good physical health verified by a health screening, including a chest x-ray or an intradermal test result not more than 6 months prior or seven (7) days after employment. Be mobile and able to perform physical requirements of the job. Assist in loading and un‑loading of residents into property’s vehicle/van. Be mobile and able to perform physical requirements of the job. Will require physically assisting residents during activities.
  • Displays sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults. Demonstrates genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of older people and their families.
  • Employee must pass a criminal record clearance prior to beginning work in the community. Employee must possess current first aid training. Employee must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
