Position Overview

The Painter I position is an introduction to painting aircraft parts. You will be cleaning or prepping surfaces of parts and getting familiar with our paint processes. You will be responsible for setting up the equipment used to apply paint. All paint processes will be performed in accordance with customer specifications and requirements. Work will be done under close supervision.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Learn and understand practical painting processes and procedures.
  • Read and understand traveler instructions and special notes.
  • Learn basic knowledge on prepping parts including sanding, flipping, and racking parts, which may vary in size, length, shape, and weight.
  • Learn to mix paint components, such as thinners and polyurethane.
  • Familiarize with paint guns, equipment, and tooling.
  • Count and record the number of pieces being painted.
  • Adhere to company policies, quality procedures, and safety standards.
Skills
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to read and interpret process specifications, procedures, and customer purchase orders.
  • Ability to solve practical process or procedural problems/issues.
  • Good penmanship.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills, such as MS Office.
Required Education And Experience
  • 6 months of relevant experience.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a typical processing environment.
  • Painting is done in a booth with either a full-face respirator or supplied air hood.
  • Use and maintenance of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to meet physical demands including walking, bending, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, transporting supplies or equipment, sitting or standing for extended periods, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
Shift Schedules
  • 1st shift: 6:45 am - 3:00 pm
  • 2nd shift: 2:45 pm - 11:00 pm
  • 3rd shift: 10:45 pm - 7:00 am
