Job Description

Job Title: Mature Engines & Production Support Stress Analyst

Working Pattern: Full time

Working location: Indianapolis, IN/Hybrid - 3 Office Days/Week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a stress engineer on the Mature Engines & Production Support Stress Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the structural analysis assessing design changes, quality issues, and non-conforming parts across a range of component groups for in-production engine families. You will have a tangible impact on engine and spare parts delivery. The team works closely with design engineers to collaborate in support of production delivery, manufacturing, and the mature engine programs. Co-located with the factory and engineering offices, you will have the opportunity to see hardware and interface with the manufacturing and assembly teams as well as the mature engine program engineering organization.

What you will be doing:

  • Conduct mechanical integrity, stress, and lifing assessments using finite element analysis and other numerical models.
  • Perform structural analysis, fatigue lifing, and crack propagation calculations of engine components supporting mature engine programs as well as assessing non-conforming hardware against engineering acceptance criteria.
  • Build engineering justification for disposition of non-conformances to be captured in Technical Analysis Reports (TARs).
  • Support analysis for program and production quality and safety related issues.
  • Point of contact between the mechanical integrity discipline and other functions.
  • Promote, encourage, and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement (of tools, processes, and methods) both within and outside their immediate sphere and prompt action across the wider team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 1+ years of experience OR;
  • Masters degree in in Engineering or regional equivalent qualifications
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with the Rolls-Royce Indianapolis MRB Web App and general MRB processes.
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis, preferably using Ansys.
  • An ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters.
  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design methodologies and understand cross-discipline engineering concepts which include but are not limited to manufacturing engineering, mechanical analysis, cost engineering, and product definition.
  • Good communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization
