Job Description / Essential Elements:
- Brief Description of Position: Develops and presents lessons to students; evaluates student progress; maintains classroom control and a positive learning environment; assists in curriculum development; supervises co-curricular activities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver lessons aligned with district curriculum, demonstrating planning and preparation.
- Set clear performance objectives for students that support district goals.
- Evaluate student progress based on achievement of performance objectives.
- Use diverse instructional techniques and materials suitable for the course and students.
- Maintain proper classroom control and a conducive learning environment.
- Demonstrate punctuality and maintain current, understandable records of attendance and progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and instructional activities.
- Stay updated in the subject area and continually improve instructional methods.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the taught subjects periodically.
- Adhere to district policies and curriculum standards.
- Participate in departmental and district meetings.
- Supervise the use of equipment and facilities ensuring safety.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Treat students with courtesy and respect, understanding their social, psychological, emotional, and academic needs.
- Support and supervise co-curricular activities.
- Share ideas and resources with staff, demonstrating willingness to collaborate.
- Care for equipment and materials responsibly.
- Be aware of the school's and district's educational programs and participate in professional development.
- Keep informed about community and social developments relevant to education.
- Recognize the importance of community agencies and participate in school/community organizations.
- Promote community responsibility and inform the community about school services and opportunities.
- Act in loco parentis according to laws and regulations.
Supervision Exercised or Received:
- Supervised by the Principal.
- Supervisory responsibility over classified personnel assigned to classes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Secondary teaching credential appropriate to the subject.
- Minimum college degree satisfying credential requirements.
Evaluation:
- Performance reviews semi-annually for first-year teachers.
- Annual evaluations for probationary teachers.
- Bi-annual evaluations for teachers with permanent status.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Complete online application, hold a single subject credential, submit transcripts, CBEST, letter of introduction, resume, and letters of recommendation. Bilingual candidates are preferred. Newly hired members will receive credit for relevant prior verified contractual experience.
