Job Title:

Mathematics Teacher, High School

Qualifications:
  • Certified as a Secondary Mathematics Teacher by the Delaware Department of Education.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
Reports To:

School Principal (or Assistant)

Job Goal:

To create a content-based program and a classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth; to establish rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for successful post-secondary transition; and to foster positive relationships with parents and staff. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support adolescents' development and ensure student success.

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Teach content using the adopted curriculum and appropriate learning activities.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter as per state law and district regulations.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and group instruction tailored to student needs.
  • Translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences.
  • Maintain standards of student behavior to ensure a productive learning environment.
  • Assess student academic and social growth, maintain records, and report progress.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and school programs.
  • Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  • Create an inviting learning environment with displays and interest centers.
  • Participate in professional development and curriculum development activities.
  • Supervise students during out-of-class activities.
  • Administer standardized tests as per district guidelines.
  • Attend scheduled IEP meetings and participate in related activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Special Requirements:

Attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional hours as required by the LFEA contract.

Terms of Employment:

Ten-month work year. Salary and schedule are determined by the Board of Education.

Evaluation:

Performance will be evaluated according to the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

Conditions of Employment for New Employees:
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Satisfactory child protection registry check.
  • Mandatory direct deposit of pay.
  • Documentation of Mantoux skin test results for school entry.
