Cambridge Street Upper School
The Opportunity:
The 8th grade math teacher at the Cambridge Street Upper School will teach four sections of grade 8 math. The teacher will collaborate with the 8th grade team and facilitate an advisory for a small group of students. The Grade 8 Math teacher reports to the Head of the Upper School and works closely with the building Math Coach and district Math department.
The CSUS Grade 8 Math teacher is responsible for attending various meetings including Math department meetings and grade level team meetings; keeping accurate records and communicating with caregivers regularly throughout the year; and performing other duties as requested by the Head of School.
The Cambridge Street Upper School is an innovative public middle school in the Cambridge Public School District. We seek a dynamic, committed teacher with strong content knowledge, pedagogical skills, solid classroom management, a deep commitment to social justice and anti-racism, and experience working in an urban school setting.
Duties:
The grade 8 math teacher will implement differentiated, innovative instruction to a diverse student body. The teacher should understand the developmental needs of middle school students and believe that all students can master complex math concepts. The teacher will collaborate with the grade 8 team, school-wide faculty including special educators, instructional coaches, and paraprofessionals, and colleagues district-wide. Incorporating a variety of assessment strategies, including district exams and formative assessments, will inform instruction and help identify interventions and enrichment opportunities.
Preferred candidates will have experience using technology to enhance lessons and differentiate instruction. Recognizing the importance of social learning, the teacher will integrate social-emotional learning into math and advisory. The teacher will partner with families to support student learning and development. A commitment to continuous professional growth, reflection, and collaboration is essential to ensure high achievement for all students.
